Golden Rice
Golden Rice (Oryza sativa) is genetically modified rice that has been engineered to synthesize beta-carotene, a syntheic version of Vitamin A. Golden Rice was first developed in 2000 to help fight the battle of Vitamin A deficency that kills around 680,000 childeren under the age of 5 a year.
